Detailed Profile

  • Hiroki Sumi majored in solid-state physics at university and engaged in research on strongly correlated electron systems with a focus on metal oxides (ceramics). He has executed a series of cycles of material design, synthesis, evaluation, and analysis based on theory. Moreover, he sometimes designs experimental elements according to the synthesis conditions and fabricated prototypes using machine tools created on his own.
  • During M.A. and Ph.D. programs, Hiroki Sumi engaged in research on complex correlations such as ferroelectricity, ferromagnetism, and ferro elasticity. During his research, he has tried various experiments, not limited to electrical and magnetic measurements, but also including optical measurements, synchrotron radiation measurements, and domain measurements using PFM.
  • After completing a Ph.D. program without dissertation, Hiroki Sumi joined a patent firm as a patent engineer, aiming to support researchers with his experience. After joining the patent firm, he passed the patent attorney examination in the shortest time and became a patent attorney. He has been mainly engaged in the prosecution of automobile-related products, and has experience in a wide range of the fields such as machinery and manufacturing methods with a focus on the fields of electric circuits and controls. Utilizing various knowledge and thinking ability gained in the process of his research, Hiroki Sumi has been highly evaluated for his prompt grasp of technical contents and proactive proposals to clients.
