Satoshi KAWASHIMA

I majored in mechanical engineering as a student, and after joining industry I worked on systems: production simulation, building production control systems, image processing. I have also been involved in environmental business. Through intellectual property, I want to raise the value of technology further.

At university, conducted research in fluid engineering (performance analysis and experiments on diffusers). In the master's program, worked on precision machinery (performance analysis and experiments on a new thrust bearing).

At a major electrical manufacturer, built production systems and supported process design using production simulation. At a major measuring instrument manufacturer, built a production control system and developed inspection equipment using image processing. Also took part in the IMS project of the former Ministry of International Trade and Industry, developing intelligent modules for assembly. On the business side, was involved in launching an environmental business. Later worked as a consultant supporting manufacturing companies, on DX adoption and on building smart factories, before joining IPX.

Through research in mechanical engineering from undergraduate through graduate school, and through work in industry on medium- and long-term production technology themes, mainly systems, he gained knowledge across a wide range of technologies. In the process he became interested in intellectual property and qualified as a patent attorney. He believes that technology will diversify further, that protection of intellectual property will be required more strongly not only for products but also in the field of production technology, and that small and medium-sized companies will strongly need protection for original technology. Drawing on varied corporate experience and the IP experience and insight newly gained at IPX, he aims to provide services that meet a wide range of needs.
