Full profile
In my university laboratory I researched the physical properties of polymer materials.
After joining Toyota Technical Development, I worked in the Materials Engineering Department on the evaluation and analysis of lithium-ion batteries.
Looking into other companies’ patents through that analysis work is what drew me to intellectual property. I moved to the IP department and qualified as a patent attorney. There I covered a wide range of IP practice, including support for patent filings, patent searches and clearance. I was also seconded for one year to the IP department of our client Toyota Motor Corporation, where I worked on IP strategy to give the business an advantage. After returning, I proposed new activities to meet the latent client needs I had noticed during the secondment.
