Yusuke KUBOTA

Drawing on my experience in mechanical design at a manufacturer and in prosecution work at a patent firm, I take the time to understand the technology and the business behind it, and work to make proposals that fit each client's situation and wishes.

I worked for about eight years as an engineer at a mechanical manufacturer. I was involved in the whole flow, from specification meetings with customers through design, prototyping, evaluation and coordination with the manufacturing division to mass production, organising requests and operating conditions into design specifications.

I then joined a patent firm, where I handled matters from filing through to grant, mainly in the mechanical and structural fields: invention interviews, drafting applications and responding to office actions. I have worked with clients of many industries and sizes, adapting to each one's IP structure, requests and filing policy. Through meetings with inventors, I organise the technical problems and the key points of the invention and consider the direction of the filing.

Drawing on both sides of that experience, industry and patent practice, I place importance on understanding the technology accurately and on tailoring my proposals to each client's situation and wishes.
