Yuya TANAKA

I have worked both in a company's development division and in a company's IP department, so I can propose the form of protection that suits an invention. I will keep working with the client's interest first.

In my master's program I belonged to a laboratory specializing in organic synthetic chemistry and worked on the total synthesis of antibiotics. After graduating I spent six years at an operating company on laboratory synthesis of small molecules and polymers for functional materials and on pilot-scale trial production.

I then registered as a patent attorney and spent three years at another patent firm on filing and prosecution, mainly in chemistry and biotechnology, and five years in the IP department of a chemical company on filing and prosecution and on external affairs including contracts. Alongside knowledge of chemical synthesis, I have broad knowledge of advanced applications of chemical materials, centered on electronics, and I draw on patent practice in Japan and abroad in my proposals.

In my work I aim not only to extract the core of an invention but also to take a broad view of competitors' technical trends, and to make concrete proposals that maximize both the value of the invention and the client's interest.
